Job Summary
The Sub's primary goal at Victory Academy is to demonstrate your love for children as well as provide a safe and
nurturing environment for them and to encourage social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
Subs must follow the lesson plan in the sub folder that the teacher will leave for you. Subs must maintain a
positive relationship with parents, children, and teachers, and always ensure the safety of all children while
meeting the physical demands of the position. The ideal candidate is available as needed and would like to work a few hours each week.
Duties and Responsibilities
● Read all information in the sub folder for designated classroom prior to beginning your shift, which
means you must arrive 15 or so minutes ahead of time.
● Attend to the children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers as the
need arises. Also work with children on self-help
skills aiming towards self-sufficiency skills.
● Make note of any important information that is to be relayed to the teacher when she returns.
● Meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Also
breaking into small group learning to accommodate the varying ages of the children.
● Follow the directions given in the sub folder and given forth by the other teachers in the classroom
● Adhere to each classroom's daily schedule.
● Clean classroom -vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing tables and surfaces.
● Establish constructive and cooperative working relationships with other workers
and maintain them over time for the good of the center.
Qualifications
● Clear background check required
● The position requires the equivalent of a high school diploma.
● Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool children or equivalent environment.
● Successful completion of minimum childcare licensing standards is a plus but not mandatory for
substitute position.
Attendance and Punctuality
Attendance is an essential job function. This position requires applicant to arrive on time for scheduled shift
which means set up and ready for kids' arrival.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to lift moderately heavy objects up to 25lbs. and perform duties requiring extensive
maneuverability and normal strength. Must also be prepared to run, jump and participate in physical activity.
Equipment
Duties will require the regular use of mobile devices, computers and other electronics. Must have access to
transportation.
Compensation
● $11-$15 per hour dependant on experience (if minimum childcare licensing standards are met hourly
rate offered will reflect as such)
